PAULO

Paulo lives in Footscray and is turning 18 in November. Paulo has been in the community mentoring program for the last two years.   His goals are to finish high school, look for part-time work and generally think about his future options.

Each month, Paulo catches up with Jim, his mentor, to talk about recent issues. These meetings are usually in the city over a cup of coffee, hot chocolate or a snack. A fly on the wall would be amazed at the range of topics that can be discussed at any meeting - but that is confidential !
Jim works in the city and is a local Kensingto resident.

Recently, Paulo reached the important goal of completing his VCE.   Finding work is proving to be a more difficult task but his CV is all up to date and widely distributed.   Now that school is finished Paulo is ready and willing to respond to any offers of employment.   Through the mentor program, Paulo is also being assisted in getting his drivers licence with the intention of improving his future prospects. Both Jim and Paulo have found the mentor program to be useful, fun – and recommend others to consider it.
